Relay is a paid, hosted service. You sign up yourself, pick one of two plans, billed monthly or yearly, and your workspace is switched on as soon as the payment is confirmed. There is no free plan, no free trial and no waiting list.
Plans#
See the full comparison on the pricing page. Prices exclude taxes unless stated otherwise.
What counts as a seat#
A seat is anyone who signs in to answer customers from the inbox, you included. Your customers, people using the widget, voters on the feedback board and help center readers are never counted. Add and remove people under Inbox → Team; on Pro the workspace can have three, on Team there’s no limit.
Hosted for you#
We run Relay for you, including hosting, updates, email delivery and the AI that writes bot answers. There is nothing to install or maintain on your side: you add a script tag to your app and work from the inbox in your browser.

Billing, changes and cancellation#
- Plans are billed in advance, monthly or yearly, and renew automatically until you cancel. Paying yearly gets you 2 months free.
- Payments are handled by Dodo Payments, our merchant of record. It takes your payment, collects and pays any sales tax or VAT, and sends your invoices. Relay never sees your card number.
- Only the workspace owner can manage billing. Open Billing in the sidebar (or
/billing) and choose Manage billing to update your card, download invoices, switch between Pro and Team, or cancel. - When you cancel, you keep your plan until the end of the period you’ve paid for. Refunds follow our terms of service.
If a payment fails or you cancel#
If a renewal fails, Relay gives you a short grace period during which everything keeps working and the Billing page asks you to update your card. If it still can’t be taken, or once a cancelled plan reaches the end of its period, your workspace is switched off: the inbox sends you to the Billing page, the chat widget disappears from your site, and your public help center and feedback board are hidden. Nothing is deleted. Subscribe again (or fix your card) and everything comes back exactly as you left it.
